What Is the “Oscar Awards” Retrospective About?
IIf you had to describe the past period as an episode in a film series, what title would you give it?
What were the Oscar-worthy scenes — those moments that went so well they deserve the highest recognition?
How were these scenes the early signs or stepping stones toward our future goals?
In every film shoot, there are scenes that don’t turn out as planned and end up on the cutting room floor.
Which scenes from the past period didn’t go as we had hoped, and what did we learn from them that can help us in reaching our upcoming goals?
If we succeed in achieving our goals, what kind of reviews and feedback might we receive for the next episode?
Let’s write the script for our next successful episode:
What are the next steps we need to take to reach our goals?
Who will do what in the upcoming period?
How to Use the Attached Tools
- Download and update the slides, and create content tailored for your team’s retrospective.
- Set up a collaborative space for the team to work on the retro tasks together.
- Plan the retro agenda and time allocation to guide the session effectively.
- Run the retrospective with your team.
- Evaluate the retrospective.
- You’ll find reflection questions on the final slides to help with this.
- Add the agreed next steps from the retro to your team’s task board (e.g., in Jira),
- and track the progress of these commitments.
- At the end of the next period, hold another retrospective and reassess the process and results achieved so far.
Tip: You can download the CSV file generated from Miro board and impirt it into the tool you use (eg. Miro or Mural) – and it’s ready to use right away.
Feedback
At the end of the meeting — or shortly after — ask participants for feedback to evaluate the session. A practical tool for collecting feedback is, for example, menti.com.
Tip: If you choose Mentimeter for the feedback section and only want to display it during the retro, select “Present” mode.
If you’d like your Mentimeter to remain accessible for responses after the retro as well, choose the “Survey” mode.
